Portland YouthBuilders and Hampton Team Up

July 6, 2024

Hampton has a long history of engagement in the communities where we operate. Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, we work with a number of local non-profit organizations that work to improve quality of life for all. One such organization is Portland YouthBuilders (PYB).  PYB has helped thousands of young people whose experiences with poverty, violence, drugs, hunger, and loss have interrupted their route to success. Programs that combine education, vocational training, counseling, career development, and long-term support are offered free of charge and even include a small stipend.

Hampton has been a proud supporter of PYB since 2021, providing financial support and lumber for their YouthBuild and YouthBuilder Bridge construction training programs. In 2022, Hampton also raised over $35K with our vendor partners (Hill Brothers, Owens Corning, Can-AmChains, Tacoma Screw Products, D-Stake Mill, Burton Saw & Supply, H&H Paving, USNR, Applied, and L.G. Isaacson) to help PYB purchase a new 24-passenger van for their students. The new work van provides students at PYB easy transportation to their facility, as well as provide a temporary workspace for work opportunities around the city. The millwright team at our Willamina sawmill fabricated a locking trailer to go behind the van to help keep tools and equipment safe.

PYB has made a profound difference in the lives of these young people and we’re thrilled to support their work to connect students with careers in the construction trades.
