Hampton Donates Lumber for Nehalem Bay Health Center and Pharmacy Project

October 22, 2024

Portland, OR – Hampton Lumber has made a significant contribution to the new Nehalem Bay Health Center and Pharmacy in Wheeler, OR, providing much of the dimensional lumber needed to construct the 16,000-square-foot facility.

Scheduled for completion in September 2025, the new health center will replace an aging, undersized clinic that has served the community since the 1980s. The upgraded facility promises to expand access to essential medical services for the North Coast community.

“This is simply an extraordinary contribution from Hampton Lumber to our project and to the community,” said Marc C. Johnson, president of the Nehalem Bay Health District that is developing the new Health Center. “On behalf of our board of directors and our community we say – thank you so very much to the management and workforce at Hampton Lumber. We could not be more grateful for this generosity.”

The donated lumber, valued at over $50,000, will be processed at Hampton Lumber’s mill in nearby Warrenton, OR.

“We’re proud to produce building materials from responsibly-managed forests here on Oregon’s North Coast,” said Kristin Rasmussen, Director of Public Affairs and Communications for Hampton Lumber. “It’s particularly rewarding to see our products contribute to essential infrastructure projects in local communities.”

This contribution also allows the Nehalem Bay Health District to allocate bond funds, approved by voters in 2023, toward other vital projects, including renovations to the Nehalem Valley Care Center and future workforce housing for healthcare and essential workers.

Johnson expressed hope that Hampton Lumber’s generosity will inspire others to contribute to the District’s mission of improving health and senior care on the North Coast.
