Fort St. James, British Columbia

Rich in culture and history

Get to know our community.

Set along the shoreline of Stuart Lake is a community steeped in the history and culture of the Dakelh First Nations people, including the Nak’azdli, Yekooche, Binche, Tl’azt’en, and Takla Lake communities. The area, adorned with ancient Dakelh pictographs along Stuart Lake’s north shore, continues to be a testament to the deep-rooted connection between the land and its people.

The mill and our people.

Hampton acquired the sawmill and timber tenure from Conifex, Inc. in 2019 and set on a course to completely rebuild the mill. Fort St. James Forest Products commenced operations in late 2022. This state-of-the-art sawmill fosters opportunities in Fort St. James and the surrounding communities.
