Hampton and Girls Build Launch Weekend Workshops for Girls Interested in the Trades

January 15, 2025

Hampton Lumber is excited to announce a new partnership with Girls Build to expand their highly successful summer camp program for girls ages 8-15, with additional weekend workshops this winter and spring for girls and young women ages 14-18.

Since 2018, Hampton Lumber has supported Girls Build’s week-long summer camps in the Oregon communities of Warrenton, Tillamook and Willamina/Sheridan, providing hundreds of girls with impactful, hands-on opportunities to build skills and confidence in the trades. These highly popular camps are taught by female instructors and can accommodate up to 40 participants. To ensure accessibility, Hampton also funds scholarships for girls who may face financial barriers. Many participants return year after year, building new skills, gaining confidence, and forming lasting connections.

As with the summer camps, these new weekend workshops aim to inspire and educate participants about career opportunities in their communities while providing hands-on experience in carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, and more.

“Our partnership with Girls Build is a fantastic opportunity to expand access to educational programs that empower young women to explore careers in the trades and develop practical skills that will benefit them for years to come,” said Kristin Rasmussen, Director of Public Affairs and Communications at Hampton Lumber. “We’re thrilled to be able to offer new opportunities for older girls and young women interested in continuing to build their skills.”

Dates for the upcoming Girls Build weekend workshops are as follows:

  • January 24-26, 2025 – Warrenton, OR
  • February 21-23, 2025 – Tillamook, OR
  • March 14-16, 2025 – Sheridan, OR

Each workshop will include 14 hours of class time over the weekend—two hours on Friday night, eight hours on Saturday, and four hours on Sunday, with overlapping meals provided. Each workshop is limited to 20 participants.

In addition to the workshops, Hampton will continue to sponsor week-long Girls Build summer camps for girls ages 8-15 the following locations:

  • August 4-8, 2025 – Sheridan, OR
